(This is a message from Wink, who is partnering with Trinity Anglican Mission to provide creative writing sessions and tutoring at Kennedy Middle School)

Fall creative writing workshops are set and are quickly approaching! Mark your calendar for Wednesdays from 4 pm to 5 pm at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Atlanta’s Vine City neighborhood, beginning on September 28.

We’re kicking off another school year at KMS, and are delighted to continue our partnership with Trinity Tutors. Over the course of a semester, 20 kids will become real-life authors, publishing their writing in Wink’s second book. (In May, we celebrated kid-penned work with an author reading extravaganza of Wink’s inaugural book, Hey, New Kid! I Used to be New Here, Too.)

But Wink needs your help! This past spring, we offered the students a one-to-one tutor-to-kid ratio, and we’d like to reach the same goal this semester. If you can’t commit to every Wednesday, but would like to pitch in, we still want you!

Interested volunteers, come to Wink’s InfoMeet on Wednesday, September 21 at Kennedy Middle School. We will gather in front of the school’s main entrance on Griffin Street at 3:45 pm (the meeting itself will last from 4 pm to 5 pm, but we will walk in together so no one gets lost, reminding you of your own first day of middle school). If you will not be able to attend Wednesday workshops but would like to volunteer in other areas, feel free to join this meeting as well.

Lastly, if you are new to Wink (or are a new Trinity Tutor), we have this very small, one-time request: We humbly ask that you make a $15 donation to cover a necessary background check. Click here to download a background check form and bring the completed form and donation to the InfoMeet.

Many, many thanks and hugs and soft warm fuzzies,

The Wink Team
